Congrats to Joshua Hummel and Christa Rampley!

On Friday, two MA students in the Linguistics Program, Joshua Hummel and Christa Rampley, successfully defended their respective theses. These works (see titles below) both treated issues of lexical variation in contemporary American English.

  • Hummel: "Conflict's connotation: A study of protest and riot in contemporary news media" (Committee: Howe, Kretzschmar, and Lee-Shoenfeld)
  • Rampley: "Ratchet: An etymological origin and social dispersion theory" (Committee: Dolezal, Evans, and Howe)

Congrats to both Joshua and Christa on these important milestones!
